Discuss The White Lotus

Some people are dissing the hotel manager and the honeymooning jerk, and I agree that they're a bit much, although so far I've seen only the first two episodes.

But a lot of the interpersonal stuff is interesting and/or amusing. I also really enjoy the cinematography and the music. E.g., at the end of episode 2 when the lone boy is getting ready to sleep on the beach and he sees the whale breaching, it's such a serenely beautiful moment, and it finally helps the jaded boy to get his nose out of his phone and appreciate the wonders of the natural world. But it's also sort of sad the way he reflexively looks around for someone to share the moment with, but then he remembers that he's alone.

There have already been other examples of personal growth, and I think I'm going to see more as the series progresses. We already know about the death of a particular guest, just from the opening scene of the first episode; but it will be interesting to unwind that story later on and see what else transpires.

So, overall, I really like it so far.

I like that you point out that scene with the boy sleeping on the beach. that scene really stood out to me too.
