Nice to know that TMDB has zero interest in bettering itself or working with the community that built it. I may not have been a big contributor, so I know this will have no impact, but this certainly will make me completely cease all contributions to TMDB.

The subject was put on the table by @travisbell himself one month ago, but the internal discussions have only ended last night.

If that's the case, then the internal discussion was happening when this thread BEGAN. Why wasn't that information shared here and why was the only response from TMDB that the "original release" rule would govern this situation? A reply that, "Travis Bell is aware of the situation and internal discussions are currently happening to decide how to handle this situation. We'll report back when that decision has been reached." would have gone a LONG way in easing the tension and efforts of all involved in this thread. Was anything mentioned in this thread used during those discussions or was this all for nothing?

I've never encountered something as unfriendly as you before. Please show more respect to your users who keep this site alive, and providing information like 'Travis Bell is aware of the situation, and internal discussions are currently taking place to determine how to address this situation' should be a given.

Probably a bit harsh. The moderators are working within the confines of the rules that govern this site. They most likely do not have any authority to change them or "do their own thing".

This case is an exception to those rules so it needs to be approved which, by the sounds of it, has been discussed for a while and approved.

Lets not attack the mods for just doing the job they were assigned.

I don't think the... complaint... against the mod is for a lack of action. Rather, it's due to a lack of communication and a perceived dismissive attitude towards the community, itself, when questions were asked. I expect mods of any site to be here to help the community, foster it and the site to grow, and keep things on track. The information provided by the mods in this thread was anything but. It was unhelpful and needlessly caused additional frustration for everyone participating.

If a mod is limited in what they're permitted to say, then, at least, SAY THAT. Are they not even allowed to do that much? I asked why the status wasn't shared. All I got was a restated rule. Not, "My apologies for not sharing what was going on behind the scenes, but, as a mod, I wasn't even aware this discussion was going on. Had I known, I absolutely would've shared that information." Then, in trying to ascertain if there's a way to improve this lack of communication, I essentially got, "No." Maybe something like, "Again, as a mod, I have limited access and capabilities. In fact, I have no way of even reaching anyone with the power to do anything. Perhaps you could try using the contact form on the website to ask the admins that question."

Any of these things would've made this an immensely more productive discussion. Instead, all it did was tick people off by making it seem like nobody at TMDB gives a damn about the community.

Thanks to @superboy97 for dealing with all these TV discussions that tend to get toxic at times.

After the thousandth report denouncing exactly the same thing as dozens of reports before it, no one would probably think of writing "Thanks for your report" all the time. Someone somewhere is constantly complaining because, for example, Netflix has once again created fantasy seasons and of course they differ from tmdb's original order etc etc. And we're not even talking about all the discussions, which often drag on and involve a certain dynamic of over-dramatization. That's because of the TV format, our thinking adapts to it somewhere. I don't see any unfriendliness here. Just the cold objectivity that is needed in these time-consuming TV discussions.

Making internal debates public would hardly help defuse the situation. The question would then be asked every other day, “When will a decision finally be made?”, which would trigger stress that could lead to a decision that would then have to be reversed. which then leads to discussions again.

Instead, we had 40 replies, consisting of people begging for something to be done and needlessly trying to make their case, but being repeatedly told that the rule stands. I'm not convinced that was the better or only alternative. Also, I highly doubt someone would be asking for an update as often as you think. A mod posts one thread, announces there's a discussion going on, and explains that thread will be updated as soon as a decision has been made. Subscribe to be notified. Would everyone read it? Probably not, but you'd have more than just mods replying to new threads and enlightening them about the current status post.

I'm done with all of this and unsubscribing from the thread. I've said my piece and tried to suggest things which might make the site more productive for both TMDB and its community, but there's no point talking to a brick wall. No admin at TMDB gives a s***, so there's no point discussing it any further.
