Det. Sgt. Adam Flint. In an episode made before actor Paul Burke first played Flint ( one where James Franciscus was the show's basic star) there was a sea faring guest character also named Adam Flint. Some viewers watching took this man to be the detective's father but others pointed out it was just an unrelated character on the show with the same name.

No. Of course not, Neo. The two characters with the same name were in different seasons. It was just hilarious how some viewers foolishly imagined this sea salt was the father of the detective instead of what he really was. Reused writing.
