Discuss Quantum Leap

Item: Staffel 1

Language: de

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: There is a matching / naming error in the hole 1st season for the german part. If you look at "https://www.fernsehserien.de/zurueck-in-die-vergangenheit/episodenguide/staffel-1/502" you can see, the right order is to divide the pilot movie into E01 and E02. At the moment its only E01. Would it be ok, that I correct the hole season?

here we list all episodes as they were aired originally on TV (not on DVD or in other countries) I don't know the dates so please don't change anything for now, another moderator will take care of it

The english part of the season is ok. It's only the german part. The link I've sended is a webpage wich showes the aired dates (original and germany) For example "Deutsche Erstausstrahlung: Di 29.01.1991 RTLplus Original-Erstausstrahlung: So 26.03.1989 NBC". But you're right, let's wait for another moderator.

I'm sorry, but I must disagree, it's listed as eight episodes for the first season on the website, my guess is it's just a longer first episode. That happened a lot. Nowadays there's more shows that just show a double bill (or well, I don't know if that's a correct term, I mean two episodes back to back), in those cases we do split it (from the top of my head, for example Under The Dome, I think it also happened with Revolution, but can't be sure).

This just seems like a pilot that's longer than the rest of the series (like with Dead Like Me).

Maybe it's split on the DVD, and yeah on Wikipedia, maybe even other tv databases, but we shouldn't make that affect our entries.

For media centers, you can name your files so that it's S01E01.pt1 and S01E01.pt2 or something! :)

Rofl, looks like I've been overruled. thumbsup

I'm sorry, but I still think it should be one listing, if not for the NBC site, then;

"This episode originally aired in a 2-hour format, simply under the name "Quantum Leap." When the episode was rerun on Sep. 13, 1989, just before the second season premiere, it was edited down to 90 minutes and retitled "Genesis." When released on home video in 1992, the cover read "The Pilot Episode." When the episode was shown in reruns on the USA Network and the Sci-Fi Channel, the episode was called "Genesis" again, though much of the missing footage was restored, and the episode aired in 2 parts." from wikia, and the same-ish is listed on imdb. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098151/alternateversions

And another mention of the original two-hour pilot episode;

When you check VOD sites that do have the pilot splitted (okay, I only know of Hulu) it is two 43m episodes (which also doesn't match the runtimes on IMDb, but that's another thing). NBC's stream is one of 90-ish minutes which matches that mentioned about "original two hour pilot cut down to 90 minutes" (Netflix had also just 8 episodes for the first season).

I'm sorry, but I must disagree, it's listed as eight episodes for the first season on the website

I don't think we can use current websites for old series. It doesn't hurt your argument, though. smile_cat

I checked a few old newspapers. The pilot aired on a special night and was referred to as a "two-hour pilot", "two-hour premier", "two-hour preview", "two-hour movie" and "NBC movie".

I don't think it should be split.

Oh David Haller removed his comment, so it looks like I'm replying to myself. He also conveniently unwatched the conversation. Nice move. Very nice.

But but said it should be split because "some website TV guide" splits it (but it also splits episodes that are just longer than usual, for example Lost's season 1 finale split into 3 parts, instead of 2.), and every other database splits it.

Well, great that you found some more reputable sources. I had a really hard time, as you can see in my message above rofl

I saw the comments. But for the sake of consistency, I don't think we should pick and choose when to follow the original listing. baby_chick
