Item: My Finale (2) (8x19)
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: S08E18/19 were aired as a double episode, so as such I believe that they should be merged into S08E18 and S08E19 be deleted. They were only split into two later when the DVD was released.

I'm not getting anywhere with the ABC archives. Do you have proof it was originally broadcast as one episode, not two?

i would like this to be reviewed as 2 episodes, if you define episodes as things that have an intro/opening sequence and credits, then this show aired as 2 episodes on the same night back to back.
if you watch the episode, there is a "to be continued" on screen followed by outtakes as the credits roll.
the next episode opens with JD saying "previously on".
Wikipedia/IMDb lists it as 2 episodes, it has 2 production codes, its on dvd as 2 separate episodes. my question would be, why would they intentionally split them up if they originally made as 1 episode, just for the dvd release?.
it's also currently on sbs Australia on demand as 2 episodes. opensubtiles has it separate too.

An episode is the entity advertised by the broadcaster at the time of the original broadcast.
As you can see in the newspapers snippets provided by @Sheigutn , you will see that this episode was advertised at one single element.
As indicated by the 2 production codes, it was produced as 2 separate episodes, but as indicated by the newspapers snippets, it has been originally broadcasted as a single one.
The fact that it is now streamed and released on DVD as 2 episodes has no impact on our listing, which should be based on the original broadcast.
I also quote the Scrubs fandom : "The episode was split in two parts on DVD, ABC.com, Hulu, Netflix and syndicated reruns, but aired as an hour long single episode when it originally aired on ABC."

you can see my point though... even watching it as broadcast, it plays like 2 seperate episodes.
and you might want to add that to a FAQ somewhere.
