Discuss Tracey Ullman's Show

WHY??? I've seen just about all of Tracey's series over the years -- I think her original Fox program was performed before a live audience, but I don't recall her ever choosing to use a laugh track. It really took me out of the show, hearing those canned chuckles and applause. SO phony! This is smart comedy, TRUST the audience!!

Well, audiences today just do not get along with itselves the way that it used to back in good old original Tracey days or evenings. Everybody in her original audience knows that a skit is either funny or at least it's supposed to be funny, and so they get that Tracey deserves honorable applause, which, of course, she does because that's how good an entertainer she is as actress, singer, dancer, comedienne or presenter.

She would even tell the audience, "Now, go home!" in her bathrobe, waving them through the aisles because that's how badly they wanted to stay for encores. You just could not get enough of that show back then whether she was doing anything from "It's Kayyy," to that annoying little brat with the two fathers, but at least that just goes to show how all-inclusive she could get.

Who knew that there's a new series with canned laughter, but bring that original audience back with appreciative fans with good taste, and there you'll have no need for canned laughter. Or, maybe she just got stage fright shyness after they took those simpsons away from her, those bullies.

Sam, Joe and Paula were also very good, and everybody misses them as much as we miss Tracey, but those other two got really annoying really fast with huge egos to boot because they cut the original Tracey show real talent out of those hack voiceover so-called "performers."

So they say that when Groucho did his game show, the audience appreciated his humor, wit, and style so much that producers taped its laugh track to apply to future sitcoms from one side of Hollywood to the other for decades to follow, and that's what they should have done with Tracey's original audience because, yeah, they were that good.
