Discuss Better Call Saul

Oh man, so disappointed with that ending. Both parts of it. The hit and the discussion about setting up Howard.

Fring specifically says he's hired the best to do the hit. The professional squad were all set to do it (and presumably pull it off successfully) before he even gave them Nacho as the inside man. Then Nacho opens the doors as requested, tells the hitmen EXACTLY where Lalo is. He's already distracted. He's a little bit tipsy. He's unarmed. And all FIVE of the elite hitmen squad can't take him out? It was like amateur hour. They managed to kill literally everyone else in the entire house except for Lalo, and one of them survives long enough to do the dramatic crawl to nowhere and hand over his walkie talkie so Lalo can dupe Fring that it's been a "success". I didn't buy a second of that sequence from the moment Nacho opened the gate. And where the hell did he run to??! He would have been way better off just killing Lalo himself. He had so much opportunity.

Then on the discussion about ruining Howard to win the Sandpiper case, it felt out of character for Kim (even though they've been slowly trying to corrupt her throughout, it was still just too much evil - even Jimmy isn't really up for it.) And it was quite boring. Thinking of ways to ruin Howard was ok for a bit, but then the idea that it was such compelling discussion they're still talking about it after their meal while they're having sex, then still talking about it afterwards. I mean, jesus. I don't think I've talked about a single subject for so long ever, especially such a trivial one (since they start out joking).

The whole rest of the series was so on point, the showdown between Lalo Saul and Kim in the penultimate episode was incredible, fantastic TV, so unpredictable. And then this is how they end it?! Man. Might be the worst episode of any of the seasons yet.

Thoughts?

Yeah, as soon as I saw him (Lalo) escape that first attempt on his life, with the young kid getting shot, I knew he would somehow escape. I was thinking, "Oh, come on, really?" Those dudes under the house in the tunnel should've been wiser than that if they were the "best".

I like Kim becoming corrupted and semi-evil, but I can agree that it seemed like she was taking it too far. When she laughed in Howard's face, I laughed too, because I wasn't expecting that reaction.

All in all, good season, but probably not the best final episode. It had its moments, but I wanted more, like at least to see where Nacho was.

Going into that tunnel was stupid of them and an obvious trap. On the other hand you can't just reach down and blindly aim an automatic and expect to have any long range accuracy. I doubt any of those bullets would have hit them because of how far away they were by then.

Agreed. I forgot to mention this, but it's another thing that just didn't work this episode.

Kim is not evil. Y'all are forgetting the scene of her younger and her mother forgetting to pick her up from school and Kim walking home on her own. Kim is independent and can think for herself. She's fully aware of what Howard has done to Jimmy and she feels Howard deserves some come uppance.

Next season is being touted right now for Fall 2021 and will be 13 episodes. I do hope we finally get what happened to Kim and why she wasn't as much even mentioned in Breaking Bad. I suspect she gets killed.

I agree that the thing with Lalo was a disappointment, especially after the brilliance of the scene with him, Kim and Jimmy.

But did meeting Jimmy get her to that?

Haha! Well we know she gets a rush from doing it. She is beginning to, and probably already crossing into "breaking bad".
