It's been a while since I cried watching a TV episode. Would love to know what others thought of it.

Yeahhh. That episode hit me hard. Very well written and very sad. It makes even the happy episode which came before with the fancy dinner sad... ... cause she just wanted to have one last nice evening with the two guys in her life, to say goodbye. That is why she payed the 900 Dollar and didn´t even care :(

Yes, exactly. When you watch the "Burrito Bowl" episode it casts the previous episode in a whole new light. Now whenever I watch "Degustation," I cry during Mum's little speech to Josh where she tells him how proud she is of him. It's her way of saying farewell :(

It's interesting that in "Degustation" Josh's dad comments to him that Mum is looking happy and healthy. I've read that when a depressed person makes a decision to commit suicide, they often appear very happy to others around them, because they've made peace with their decision and want to enjoy the company of those they love one last time. I also remember reading that they often write letters to those they love or express strong feelings in the period leading up to when they will kill themselves.

I don't know for sure how accurate this is (maybe someone who works with depressed individuals can chime in), but at least in this episode it seems fair to say Mum had made a decision to kill herself and that's why she is so happy and sharing her feelings at the dinner.

It is written so well... hope we get a fifth season!
