Discuss The Crown

Man did they give her and Townsend the runaround in this series.

I knew there was a time when the churches wouldn't allow divorce at all but had never heard of the more "modern" living divorced spouse had to die rule. When was that rule done away with? After both the uncle's and Margaret's situations I would imagine the people and press of her day kept hounding the church to change things. I find the rule unusual because the Hebrew and Greek scriptures both say marriage ends at death and fornication, if the innocent mate decides not to forgive.

I wonder if Margaret had a happy life or regretted her choices? Hard to say because there were many men in her life after Townsend. Was he her great love or was there another? The life of a princess seems ideal when you are outside looking in, but The Crown made Margaret seem very unhappy at times. I would expect she will only be a minor character in future seasons as the focus shifts to Elizabeth's children.
