Sure seems the writers and creators are keeping our fav couple from last season apart. I still have three eps to go (not a binge watcher) but my guess is they won't reconnect till the last fifteen of the last ep. So then season three will be maybe more about them... but let me guess, they've grown so far apart they have to get to know each toher again and... sigh tropes tropes tropes

You should finish the season first.

I did and I was right. They didn't connect truly until the dance. Now she has to "hide" for another year but at least Mike knows where she is (presumably) or deputy Dan will let him see her.

And like all 80's horror flicks (well the trope is still in use today) we get a final scare...

They've set up a really formidable enemy in the Mind Flayer. An integrated biosphere that takes over and terraforms whole worlds, killing off the native population. The Upside Down was probably full of people only a few years ago and now they're all dead. The only thing that saved our world from the same fate was Eleven slamming the door in the Mind Flayer's face. It clearly hasn't given up though, and seems almost obsessed with El now. Standing over the dance peering in from its own world. It may or may not be front and center next season but it will be back to finish what it started. That much is certain.

In the meantime, now that Mike knows about Eleven and they've been reunited they're going to be seeing each other - with or without Hopper's permission. The smart thing would be for him to arrange a way for Mike to get back and forth without being seen. Unless of course Hopper ends up moving in with Joyce, a possibility people have speculated about. Then all Mike has to do is go visit his good friend Will. I hope the two of them get more scenes together next season where they're not in the midst of a life and death crisis. My only major complaint about season 2 was that I really wanted to see that happen and except for the Snow Ball it really didn't.

I really don't hope they're turning this brilliant show into just another teen weep feast - there are already enough of those on the television as it is.

Don't think there's much danger of that. No, I don't want to see them weeping. Just bonding and interacting, like they did in the first season. They're cute together and you want to see them be happy - it's the human connection between all these characters, and the way they look out for each other, that makes you care what happens to them. So far they've done a good job not going overboard and straying into melodrama. I see no reason to expect that will change in season 3. The path forward is even more wide open than last year. No real loose threads this time. All we know from that final scene is, the Mind Flayer is pissed and has its eye on Eleven. Beyond that we have no clue where the story goes next. The Upside Down situation might be on the back burner until season 4 for all we know, with a completely different set of threats arising in the meantime.

They had their first kids. So they are going to end up together.

Huh? Must've missed a few episodes, because I don't remember that part.

It was kiss. It was the last ep at the show ball. It was cute.

You put 'kids' instead of 'kiss'. Makes a big difference in that sentence, I don't think Hopper is ready to become a grandfather just yet.

:)

Just a typo, lol.
