Discuss Marvel's The Punisher

It's currently at 67% on RT, which for a TV series is disastrous. Even the tedious Luke cage managed to get good reviews. And all of the criticisms seem to be the same as those levelled at every single Marvel Netflix to date.

I was really hopeful for the series after seeing the trailer. Reading the reviews makes me want to give up on the Marvel Netflix shows. Watching the defenders was a chore, and I only forced myself through it because I had invested to much in the 5 seasons leading up to it. I'll give this one a miss. I think I might give all of Netflix a miss. How they can continue to inflict this crap on people and learn nothing just baffles me.

What are you talking about? Defenders was awesome.

It currently has a 9.6 rating on IMDB, and even though it will fall probably to around 8-8.5, it's still a good mark, I dare to say at least equally important to RT, if not more so. Afaic 2 episodes in, it's a solid show, I like it, 8/10.

Watch it for yourself and make your own mind up, rather than letting others do it for you.

Who knows, you might like it

this was the first decent adaption of the Punisher comics ever.

I loved it as much as the Daredevil series. Easily better than any other Marvel netflix show out. Give it a try and see for yourself.

My favorite "superhero" show. In quotes, because I consider it more like a brutal version of a long Jason Bourne movie.

I read one negative review complaining that it was too violent given what's going on in the world.. Whatever. It was really, really good.

I just finished it today. I'm really hoping there will be another season. I have to say Jon Bernthal is really impressing me these days. Look him up on IMDB. He is a very busy man! He's really honed his craft IMHO. I know him mostly from The Walking Dead as Shane. He impressed me then, he impresses me even more now. I have no doubt he'll continue to climb the ladder. (Plus, him & his biceps are soooo easy on the eyes, lol)

As far as the series goes, I liked it! I was going to just watch The Punisher right off but glad I looked it up & realized this is a spin-off from Daredevil. So now I have 2 shows I've enjoyed. These types of shows aren't for everyone but I'm always open to check them out. Would love to see another season.

Did you even watch it? It's much better than Luke Cage and on par with both seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. I don't know why the tomato ranking is in the 60s. Iron Fist and Luke Cage are just boring characters in this universe they created. Maybe they should just consider making a heroes for hire series focusing on both Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Neither actor is good enough to headline a solo series. I found the defenders to be boring also.

I've been saying this since they announced season 2 for them... why not just team them up for a season of Heroes for Hire, because both of their seasons are easily the most boring Marvel Netflix shows to date. The Defenders was pretty boring too because the Hand is a tired villain and it took them a few episodes to get together. I feel like they should've started the team up, or at least the meet-and-greet at the end of their individual seasons.

I think the reasons Punisher got low reviews is because of the guns and violence and that some people tried so hard to see a political agenda and in this ever-changing pansy society we live in, those things are frowned upon.

Yes, I saw it, it was very good. I forgot that RT is completely shit when it comes to TV shows. It's usually better than IMDB for films, especially in the first few weeks. The TV critics are awful though.

I liked Iron Fist, but Luke Cage was incredibly boring. So was season 1 of Daredevil though, and that got much better in the second season.

Hmmm…actually thought this was the best Netflix Marvel series AND best Punisher adaption. I’m an oldskool Mike Zeck/Jim Lee fan rather than the newer Garth Ennis stuff (not that familiar wth it)

Still think there’s an issue with the length of the shows (should be 10 episodes) but I was still totally engrossed throughout even in slower moments. Think the quieter moments were really effective and made the moments when Punisher brought the pain more satisfying.

I always get the feeling that the Netflix model encourages reviewers to watch these shows at breakneck speed so they can analyse, write and review a programme before it disappears from the public consciousness. Really isn’t an ideal way to watch IMHO which is why there seem to be loads of complaints about slowness and pace.

I watched it over 3 weeks and thought the pacing was perfect. It works well when you take time out to digest what has happened during a 1/2/3 episode block (13 hour movies are always a pain)

Cant wait for season 2

Yeah, I've said it before but I don't get people who try to rush through all 13 episodes like they're on a clock or something. I rarely ever watch more than an episode or two at a time because I want to take the time to appreciate the individual episodes instead of racing to the end.

I'm currently 7 episodes into Jessica Jones season 2 at the moment and am in no hurry to finish. I'm enjoying taking my time. I've got other shows to watch as well.

You are exactly how I was until I started watching these marvel shows. I was never a bing watcher on anything. I felt I didn't get the most out of it if I binged. But with these shows I find it a better experience to bing it like I'm watching one long movie. 3 episodes in a row is what I like. But everybody has their own preference.

All of these shows have the same "dark" look. as Deadpool would say.. are you from the DC universe?
