Discuss Hard Sun

I couldn't see the point of letting the viewer know straight away that the end of the world was due in five years. You immediately think well what am I watching this for ? As the nasty MI5 agent knew it - why would she bother trying to take the detectives down? Wouldn't she have been better off just packing in her job and spending what time was left with her family? No, the whole concept did not work, better to have either a detective drama or a sci fi drama - combining them was a mistake, made I think simply for the "Oh No" ending.

I loved it. One more episode to go. The actors are great and while I'm not saying the premise doesn't matter, it is something different to base things off of. It's more than just a case of the week. The characters are what matters the most to me.

Oh well - to each his own !! I hope you enjoy it !!

Yeah, lol. I read some reviews and they tore it up. I still liked it. After the last episode, I realized there can't be another season (series- British style). Oh, well,I enjoyed it. I also liked Feed the Beast, which Jim Sturges was in. That was the first time I had ever seen him in anything, and I was impressed. I am even more so now, because I kept thinking in Hard Sun that that can't be the same guy. He was so completely different.

First I'd like to say that just because all the characters seem to assume that the world will end in 5 years doesn't mean that will definitely happen. We have not been told exactly how this will happen yet or what step are being taken to avoid that fate. I agree it does mess with the motivation of some of those who are aware and so the question of why the MI5 agents are still willing to follow orders is valid, maybe they know more than we do. While seemingly far fetched, this premise will undoubtedly be very real for very many professionals , if the situation were to become a reality.
