Discuss Lovecraft Country

I generally really enjoyed this, though wish it had been more "Lovecraftian" (minus the racism that it was obviously railing against!). It certainly highlights just how bad things were for black people in the US. I'd heard about Emmet Till, but had never heard of "Sundown Towns" and while I knew stuff had happened in Tulsa, I knew it as a "Race Riot" whilst now it is known (more accurately) as a massacre.

Not sure where the proposed S2 will go, given the events of the finale, though. Maybe it might look at "power corrupts" given Leti's proud declaration to Christina that magic had been taken from all white people. I know that all the white folk in the show were bad, but surely the suggestion that only black people can be trusted with magic is racist?

It is highly problematic the ways in which many people claiming to be crusading against certain things are often just as bad, if not worse than the people they are crusading against these days.

Such is the nature of the fanatic. Committed entirely to ideology rather than reason and balance.
