It's not being shown in the U.K. until January so I need some opinions from my American friends.

I'm three episodes in and still don't know what the heck is going on—and there is a lot going on and quite a few folks going about doing whatever is going on!

Even though I recognize some elements from the movies, I'm not entirely "hooked" yet. But, since I'm such a fan of the Bourne franchise I'm willing to give the show a couple of more episodes to win-me-over.

I’m only on the first episode. I guess you’re watching too, now that it’s January. I enjoyed the Bourne books back in the day and really enjoy the Bourne movies. I’m finding this series so violent but I guess I’m not the target demographic. Everyone seems to want to kill each other. The timeline and language spoken keeps changing so I’m a little lost. We haven’t given up on it yet.

You probably won't because there is a "hook".

It'll dawn on you.

Don't remember how many episodes I was in before I realized that the showrunners were managing us.

Not trying to be cryptic...just don't want to spoil it for you.

…Let us know if you decide to bail.

OR

…Let us know when you catch on.

Simple answer: No. It is not. It is sort-of-entertaining, but lacking finesse and effort. If I can be arsed to write a review, the one-word tagline will be "sloppy". Someone got the license to extend the Bourne "Intellectual Property" into a series, and was content with that. Not aiming for excellence, just solid budget-spending on the expected elements.

So if you are not paying attention while you watch, it's OK. But if you want to be engaged, even intellectually challenged a bit... watch something else.

You’re not referring to the training are you? That’s literally the premise.

No, not training...

...There was no "present-day" John.

Somewhere between all those present-day scenes and flashback scenes, I realized that John only appears in flashbacks. After that realization, I became hooked by the mystery of John’s fate...

  1. What happened to him?
  2. Is he still alive?
  3. If alive; where is he now?

Not that I didn’t enjoy the show well enough otherwise, but for methinkingabout John’s lot was kind of earwormish. So his “status” was the one thing I most wanted to know/watched the show for. And, I have no doubt that it is/was the show’s “dangling carrot”.
