Discuss BH90210

I enjoyed this new series' premiere episode. The show has a good and fun premise.

IMO who so far is coming off especially well - in fact like the cast standout - is Jennie Garth: In the premiere she came off wonderfully regarding character persona, present looks, and acting ability. I don't at all remember thinking Garth's acting anything significant back during the original series (which I was a regular viewer of for years), though in this revival she actually - quite unexpectedly - impresses me.

Between nostalgia value and novelty quotient, this seems like a series destined for success. It'll be interesting to see how, exactly, it's gone about. The premiere mainly reunited and reintroduced most of the past main characters. What the approach going forward will be remains to be seen.

In the premiere, anytime Luke Perry was mentioned definitely was bittersweet and instantly induced genuine sadness, both for cast and viewers, as Perry was such an integral, valued part of the original series. It's tragic that he came so very close to being part of this series, but then unexpectedly was taken away just before his inclusion could have come to be.

This new series (inspired by the past original series, but about fictionalized versions of the real-life actors and actresses involved, rather than about the characters they used to portray) is a big ratings hit - the #1 most successful new-series launch of Summer 2019.

Obviously a number of TMDb message boards users must be watching.

Hopefully some discussion of the series will soon ensue.

Yeah its not a bad reboot at all so far. The premise of their 'real' selves trying to reboot the original series is very interesting. Best part - When that theme music hits !!!!! Worst part - Not having Luke in it and pretty much everytime he is mentioned :(

I haven't yet watched Ep. 2, but look forward to checking it out sometime probably today.

It's pretty impressive that, except for Luke Perry (who came this close to being a cast member), all the original cast came on board for this new series. Of course there are some significant later additions, such as Tiffani Thiessen, to the original series who (so far) aren't included - though it won't be at all surprising if some don't eventually turn up (which would be fun).

My favourite is Shannen Doherty, but I'd love to see Tiffani Thiessen return. Of course, for me she'll always be Kelly Kapowski from "Saved by the Bell (1989-1992)".

Thiessen appears now on the Netflix TV sitcom "Alexa & Katie (2018-)", which has been renewed for a third season.

It's wonderful that Shannen agreed to being on this new series, after all the "press" (decidedly unsympathetic) during and after her time on the original series. Hopefully her health will hold out and she'll successfully overcome her recent bout(s?) with cancer, and she and all concerned have a generally pleasant and agreeable co-working experience this time around.

Tiffani Thiessen sure was absolutely stunning during her heyday on Beverly Hills, 90210.

I don't at all "get" this series' currently showing average 63% TMDb rating as this is a terrific new show, so much fun, and it definitely and easily deserves higher than a 63. It's all very well done, tremendously entertaining, a great mix of old and new, the "just right" mix of soapy, nostalgic, and hilarious, and IMO on all counts hits the nail perfectly on the head.

Last night's Episode 3 was the most fun and diverting yet - and each episode has been very enjoyable. It was a literally LOL moment when Jason had the dream/nightmare involving Jennie - and how that dream concludes!!! rofl

Also terrific was the debut on this series of Carol Potter (who formerly portrayed Brandon's and Brenda's mother), and what her new role is.

Meanwhile, Christine Elise (formerly 'Emily Valentine' on the original series) is increasingly taking a more front-and-centre role; her BH90210 version of Christine is proving quite a treat!

It's fun, too, the story line with the mutilated Beverly Hill, 90210 cast dolls, as well as the 2019 acknowledgement (but in a pleasing type way that suits this new show) of the "Me Too" movement, and how it's impacting Ian, who paid a beautiful woman an entirely innocent and well-intentioned compliment (he already, however, had gotten very much on her wrong side otherwise) and received speedy backlash.

All the story lines are fun, IMO. The sole one I'm so far not quite as interested in (however do wonder where it's going) is regarding Brian's young new household assistant (whose name I don't yet know/remember).

Winning new series, that's doing superbly in the ratings and already proven itself a huge Summer 2019 hit with viewers.

Incidentally it was great, in last night's episode, Shannen's return finally taking place!

The original " Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990-2000)" has an even lower rating.

I haven't rated this show as yet. Usually I wait until the end of the first season.

Good idea. I usually wait till either two or three episodes in to rate a new show, then often wind up adjusting my rating down or up as the season progresses.

I just caught up on the first three episodes after two friends recommended it. I'm so glad they did and I gave it a chance. I was not planning to watch based on pre-series press. It sounded confusing. I'm happy to say I really like it.

Hi, amy! Great that you checked out the new series and are onboard!

It's a shame the current season is a short one, with now only two episodes remaining (tomorrow night, then next Wed. night). This quickly became my fave weekly series of this summer - the show I've most looked forward to from one week to the next. It'll be a shame to see the season end in a couple of weeks, as it feels like it's just gotten going!

This series seems like a shoo-in for renewal, as it's the #1 new series of Summer 2019. Hopefully we won't have to wait till Spring or Summer 2020 for Season 2 to air!

*** SPOILERS FOLLOW ***

The season finale episode went out of its way to, by the end of the episode, un-couple multiple couples that had been in progress. It's pretty evident that the decks were being cleared of various existing relationships so that in Season 2 (assuming there is one) new couples combinations, of pairings that have been seen to have chemistry together, can newly come in to being.

The season finale ended seeming like there's absolutely every reason to expect that there will be a Season 2, though of course series get their plugs pulled unceremoniously, post season, often. So it's anyone's guess.

Assuming there's a S2 (and hopefully there will be!), just because Christine announced near the end of the episode that one person needs to be cut from the main cast, that definitely doesn't at all need to mean also be cut from the BH90210 series, fortunately.

Hmmm: So it appears Jason now is suspecting he's Zach's father?!!

I liked how the episode ended, with all of the main cast walking out on stage together to the Weezer hit "Beverly Hills" and hugging one another, various combinations holding hands, etc. That all felt perfect.
