Discuss The Great

I’m a little bit into the first episode and its vulgar beyond necessity. It’s one thing to have humour injected into the storyline but this is just infantile.

The actress playing Catherine is doing a lovely job but she seems to be the only one on here taking her role seriously. The rest are a bunch of buffoons.

I am not sure I can push on with this one.

@dawna3 I wonder is your did finish it?

Raunchy action, vulgar words, excessive violence... all the things we love in a good romantic comedy. 😱 May be a new record for the frequent use of many forms of the most famous 'dirty' word. But seriously, this is historical and verbal slapstick of the highest order. There is virtually nothing accurate about the story Catherine the Great, and the creators do not try to present that... IN ANY RESPECT. This is not "The Crown". I do recommend that you read more about her in a biography or on Wikipedia... a really fascinating person. Although MUCH more offensive, it is like Monty Python and the Holy Grail on steroids (and out of control hormones). The storyline, characters, situations and actions are all exaggerated to infinity and beyond. I am not actually criticizing the production, rather presenting the evidence before anyone who decides to try it out.
The sets, locations and costumes are really quite good. Many of the outlandish interactions are funny (but many will offend SOMEONE, as they always do). Rating? 79 out of a hundred. 3 stars out of 5.... more or less. Very hard to rate... as there is little to compare it to.

In short... Yes, It's definitely worth watching. 100% entertainment! And yes, I agree that the production values are astonishingly high.
