Discuss General Hospital

Looks like we won't be seeing much of Jordan in the future. This article says she will "no longer be a regular", which means she is dropping to recurring or leaving GH altogether. We shall see.

I didn't know she was dating Anthony Montgomery in real life.

w0w another real-life couple sprung from the show, I suppose.

I'm sure there have been many over the years, after all, people tend to date the people that are in their social circles, either friends or people they work with. Where else are they going to find someone to date?

Another real-life couple that sprang from this show is Jonathan Jackson and Lisa Vultaggio, who played Roy DiLucca's daughter, an FBI agent sent to bring down Sonny, Hannah Scott. Hannah was a short-lived character, who was on for barely a year, and I don't think that Hannah and Lucky ever even had a single scene together, but they met on the set in 1999 and after she was fired from GH, they married in 2002, they are still married and have three children. Lisa retired from acting shortly after being fired from GH.

Juan and Liz are another real life couple who met on GH.

That's another one. I think that for actors on soaps, one of the things that is appealing about it is that you're in Hollywood, but not part of Hollywood. You're famous, but not TOO famous, and you don't live that Hollywood lifestyle of substance abuse and serial monogamy but get to live a normal home life like a normal person.

Many actors in Hollywood, the really famous ones anyway, tend to be married 5 or 6 times, and the relationships tend to be short-lived, did anyone REALLY think that 'Brad and Angelina' would last longer than 'Brad and Jennifer Aniston'?. There are many reasons why Hollywood marriages tend to fail, but surely one of the biggest ones is that 'the job' always comes first. When he spends 8 months of the year in Europe on a movie set, and she spends that same time period in Africa on a movie set, they never see each other and drift apart, how can the marriage survive?

But working on a soap is a 9-5 Monday-Friday job, you get home at a reasonable time every day, rarely have to travel (and if you do have to travel, you can usually bring your family along with you) and 'the job' is not a huge distraction, it is something you get to leave at the set every day. This is why soap marriage between soap actors tend to be permanent while most Hollywood marriages aren't. This is, no doubt, a large part of the reason why many talented actors in soaps who could probably get a job in prime time or in movies decide to stick around on a soap for decades.

Honestly I think they do 12 hour days quite a lot, and often have to be at the studio around 5am. I think the studio shuts down on weekends but ICBW

No, I don't think they do a lot of 12 hour days. They don't need to. Just like game shows, they have the production down to a well-oiled machine, they know exactly how long everything will take, and most actors don't even have to come in every day, they don't go over schedule and don't have to work late because they no longer have time to do re-takes anyway. They know 'we can film so many minutes of footage every day, we need this much footage, so we'll film for this many hours this week', and they can space it out so that they don't need to do a lot of marathon filming sessions.

I think for most actors, like Rebecca Herbst, who appear at most once or twice a week, she probably doesn't even have to be on set every day. I bet that she comes in, films all her scenes for the week in a couple of hours, and then she's probably free to go home if she wants to.

For most actors, especially those on recurring status, acting on soaps is a part-time job, they have to be on set only 3-4 hours a week at most, and the rest of the week they can work another job if they want to.

Not according to the soapsters I've interviewed- either old timers or newer folks like Gati. A typical day is 10 or more hours if you have a SL.

The last time I heard about Roger Howarth's home status was he was living on the east coast & flew out to the west coast to shoot his scenes. Does anyone know if this is still the case 6 years later?

Which 90% of the cast members DON'T, 90% of the cast members have 3 or 4 scenes every month, some don't even appear as often as that, and when they appear, they appear in one scene in some other character's story, indeed, other than Sonny, Carly, and Jason, most of the characters on this show never have their own stories at all.

I always thought it was funny when SB’s Carly called her Hannah Banana

Yes, Hannah was the first of many stereotypically 'tough' women who came to town to bring down Sonny only to go down on him instead. And thus she was the first of Sonny's many disposable women that he used and abused and cast aside when she ceased to be useful to him.

Who can blame the actress for retiring from acting after devoting nearly two years of her life to such a worthless story?

Yes, but my point is that it's not just 20 mins to film a 5 min shoot for the day- you go to makeup, read throughs, blocking out for the camera, etc.

Exactly. I’ve seen GH actors on IG talk about having to be at the studio at 5am for a typical day, and having to stay until very late. I get the impression that the studio does a 12-15 hour day and the actors are given time calls for when they’re needed. They have to arrive early for hair/makeup/wardrobe/blocking etc. I would NOT categorize GH as a 9-5 workplace

Jordan to Sonny: 'I'm sorry guys, I can't overlook that your psycho wife escaped a mental asylum by assaulting and drugging a member of the staff.'

So, Jordan is totally corrupt, too.

If VA is dropping to occurring hopefully Jordan will be fired or step down as commish

I hope Chase has been playing her all along and her plan with him backfires. She’s basically the Corinthos private d***

Actually she announced that she is leaving and Jordan is going to be recast.
