I’m not sad that Coloma is leaving. The writers have made Nik so unlikable that I can’t stand him. It’s too bad, because a year ago, Nik and Ava were one of my fav couples. I’m thinking that Tyler could make the character likable again if the writers will write better SL’s for Nik because Tyler has a ton of chemistry with everyone and comes across as more likable in general.

Lots of GH actors have been let go of over the years, but I don’t recall any of them refusing to film their last scenes. Coloma is being very unprofessional.

The closest example I can think of is Grayson McCouch refusing to come back as Sloane to be killed off so Robb Derringer returned to film Sloane's final scenes.

https://general-hospital.fandom.com/wiki/Kyle_Sloane_(Robb_Derringer)

That was because Grayson McCouch lives on the East coast, where ATWT was taped.

He was flying back and forth to do GH but when they let him go, he figured what's the point?

Marcus is just flat out refusing out of anger ... which truthfully, I don't blame him for being angry. I'd be pissed too.

His firing though occurred a week ago on Monday the 12th, if not before. We're just now hearing about it.

Yeah, but it’s been rumored on Twitter for the last week. Alan Sarapa hinted and then flat out confirmed it a few days ago. It was only a matter of time.

And it's not the first time it's happened.

Coltin Scott was fired in 2003 so Tyler Christopher could return to the role nearly 20 years ago.

Anyone want to start placing bets that TC is returning to the role? Come on, let's bet! lol

Again it sounds like mgmt spin

I go back and forth on how I feel about him not finishing his scenes. Technically he was fired, so why would they expect him to keep working? Is his contract up? On the other hand, it still does come off unprofessional. There should have been a clause in his contract that if Tyler Christopher was to come back as Nikolas, you will be terminated and contract is null and void. I mean, this isn't the first time clearly. lol.

I thought Marcus did fine, but no one compares to Tyler.

Whatever clauses they need to protect the show, write 'em up and get TC back. I'm rooting for him on and off the show.

Some of this reminded me of an interview I saw awhile ago featuring an actress who was fired from One Life to Live. She mentioned that when she was let go, she wasn't given much notice...but she said it was worse for the actress who played her mother who was fired a short time later. The producer was Paul Rauch, who had been in charge on Another World, One Life to Live and Guiding Light.

She said that when the actress who played her mother was let go, Rauch waited till after the woman finished filming what would be her last episode (only the actress had no idea it was going to be her last episode)...and then he called her on Saturday and said she was fired, and that she could come by on Sunday to pick up the stuff from her dressing room which had been placed in boxes. She was instructed to turn in her security badge and have all her stuff picked up within a certain time period.

Rauch was known for being somewhat ruthless, and when he got rid of someone, he got rid of them fast so they couldn't talk to the press or create any problems on set.

In this case, it seems like Frank Valenti doesn't have as much control over his cast if Coloma can just walk off before his last episodes were to be filmed.

Tyler Christopher did the same thing when he quit a few years ago. Left Frank with no notice, no time to hire someone to do the scenes that were to be taped that day, etc.

Frank said TC put him in a difficult position that he had never been put in by any actor before.

That's why i think if TC is returning, it's more of an ABC decision and not a Frank one.

Last week, MC unfollowed all of his GH co-stars on Twitter ... so it sounds like he expected them to stand by him but didn't. That would only be the case if they knew TC was returning. I'd imagine Genie Francis would push for it looking at it as everyone makes mistakes and deserves 2nd chances, etc. Even though I liked MC, I felt he and Genie had absolutely no chemistry together as mother and son. She has chemistry with Spencer but not MC's Nikolas.

Going deeper with that, I never felt Tyler Christopher had chemistry with Maura West to where MC did. But they really didn't have much time together when he vacated the role.

Maurice Benard is close to both MC and TC but since MC unfollowed him as well then it sounds as if he feels slapped in the face by Mo as well.

He always gave it his all. Ty C sleepwalks thru scenes.

TC in his later episodes did appear as if he were sleep walking, but I’m guessing that was due to his alcoholism. Normally I thought he was a good actor, the only real Nik to me. Also, if he left GH last time without advance notice, it may have had to do with getting treatment.

The alcohol crash was on Days Of Our Lives.

He quit GH mainly from having 2 things lined up that he was wanting to film, one of which was the very next week (Broken Promises, or something like that) ... IDK if GH wouldn't let him off to do it or what since he was in the middle of a SL so he walked off the show to do the other project.

At the end of the Summer, negotiations to let him back in the role of Nikolas fell apart. Not sure what happened. Maybe he wanted it in his contract to do other things where he wouldn't have to fight so hard to do them.

I'm sure TC drank but it didn't sound like it was at a level of being a problem on GH. All that came crashing down when he was on Days when he was going on the set blitzed. I think some of that was due to his marriage falling apart after he left GH.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for Tyler Christopher? I am deliberately not stating how I feel about Tyler Christopher's past conduct or how I would feel if he returned to the role of Nikolas.

I think what I am more interested in at this point is if Adam Huss (or someone else) will temporarily jump in to complete the episodes intended for Marcus Coloma.

Or if Tyler Christopher is returning, perhaps he will just start sooner than was planned.

At this juncture in time, the role of Nikolas is not one that can be sent off screen since he's in the middle of a huge storyline.

For some reason this particular role has had more backstage drama than most.

Mo has spoken:

Maurice Benard - @MauriceBenard

  • I’ve had many close, friends leave General Hospital. Of course it’s always sad, and sometimes confusing, I believe when you’re talented it’s always a blessing in disguise I always call @marcuscoloma the filmmaker!!! Go kick *** buddy

Finola Hughes - @finolahughes

  • This one hurts… Will miss you @marcuscoloma ♥️

Here's Marcus Coloma talking about it, sort of. He basically thanks his fan.

ha you beat me to it by a matter of seconds lol

I like the fact that he is sounding down but not out about it.

I can imagine how his heart feels losing GH and working with his friends on a daily basis.

I call him one class act ... unlike his TV character. lol

There’s reports of TC showing up drunk on GH and having to be quickly recast with Nick Stabile. He also showed up drunk on DOOL and an ambulance had to be called.
