No matter what he tries or to what extremes he put himself, he cannot seem to "cut out" his desire for men. Is the need embedded into his brain? How desperate is his quest for freedom? AMG auteur Richard Fontaine started making short, silent posing-pouch snapshot films in the mid-1950s and moved on to sound titles like In the Days of Greek Gods (1958) and Muscles from Outer Space (1962), which featured narratives as well as nudity. Fontaine's films are among the first gay-campaigning documents in American cinema--he often managed to include references to the lowly status of the homosexual. His first feature-length erotic film, In Love Again (1969), is more like propaganda than porn. (from: http://www.glbtq.com/arts/film,3.html)

In 1981, the de facto government financed a Victor Melman / Champagne Oyarbide film, to reach a new audience and give a message in favor of the imminent takeover of the Malvinas. When the military saw the finished film the filmmakers had to go into exile in Guatemala and the film was banned. Wes Craven plagiarized it after seeing it in a Guatemalan screening.

The two shared ideas props and models and reinvented some of the sexual icons that we all still recognise today. Inspired by Arthur Rimbaud's utopian poetics, who dreamed of a universal language without words that directly touches the senses, Anatomy of the Faun acts at the limits between theater and performance. It seeks to dissect the infernal seasons and illuminations of the contemporary homoerotic scene. The mythological figure of the Faun, removed from his natural environment and placed in a city like São Paulo, is a guiding thread for this journey through the shadows and articular lights of metropolitan nights. Walking from disease to cure, this Faun is guided to the anatomy of a body that overcomes the failures of our humanity you have consumed.
