Discuss U Turn

One of my favorites movies from the 90's. And it had many big stars in it.

Jennifer Lopez, Sean Penn, Billy Bob Thornton, Powers Boothe, Nick Nolte, Joaquin Phoenix and Claire Danes.

Any other fans of this Oliver Stone movie?

Awesome movie & probably in my top 5 for Stone. Thoroughly entertaining. Billy Bob's character was a hoot.

You are right about Thornton. The first time I saw U Turn I did not even realize it was him. I also thought Claire Danes character was a hoot. Here she is flirting with Penn's character and then in walks Joaquin Phoenix's character (TNT)

Impressed when I saw it, which has been eons ago when it was on VHS. Dunno what I'd think now.

U-Turn is one of those movies I like more each time I see it. Never get tired of it.

Very enjoyable.

I love those kind of films where the main character is in a fix, he just wants to escape but things keep going wrong and you wonder what disaster can possibly crop up next. Martin Scorsese's After Hours is another great one like that.

It's like the films noirs where the protagonist is trapped in a jam and things just don't look good for (usually) him. Actually, U Turn has the look of a neo-noir.

Then you might like Palmetto and Romeo is Bleeding. Romeo is Bleeding is worth watching just to see Lena Olin. She was outstanding in it.

I've seen both of them a very long time ago. Palmetto deserved more credit than it got.

If you like those sort of films then Red Rock West is a pretty good one you should check out. The premise is actually very similar to U-Turn.

Yep. Saw it and liked it. Not as good as U Turn but still good.

They seemed like the adventures of Donald Duck in the desert...

Loved how hot Jennifer Lopez looked throughout the film.

EDIT: BTW, the screenwriter's name is John Ridley. I seem to recall him being a funny scribe. I could've sworn that an editor read me a line from Ridley's novel, Stray Dogs, that amuses me to this very day. It was a question by a half-wit character about women and it was just hilarious.

Congratulations to Lopez and Affleck on finally tying the knot!!!

Yes.

I was giving Mr. Clinton & his old band mates credit for a song, but the comment just felt like it came totally out of left field. I deleted my post.

Iโ€™ll probably wish the good doctor (Funkenstein) a happy birthday in a couple days, instead of doing it early.

Okay. His 81st birthday is on Friday. ๐ŸŽ‚
