Discuss Shutter Island

It's over the top and I love it...

The supposed continuity "errors", the overly dramatic music in the beginning and the crazy cuts all contribute to the heightened atmosphere of the movie.

If only more filmmakers were this bold

this has regularly been airing and i got the idea it had alot of hype about it, then i didn't watch it until now, seems to move very slowly and like you really need to concentrate i guess to follow the story, otherwise it just looks like a dragging mess? then i read a review about it giving it just terrible rating, not sure how this holds up as entertainment. twilight zone for example also offers you strange stories but then you get the conclusion in 25 minutes, here you got to stay confused for hours, sort of like vanilla sky. one scene i liked was when he was with the woman and didn't want to wake up, and she transforms and slips away from him.

in good times got stuck, as she moved around the clock, with her blessed forms, make light last longer in land of north, weather darlin in summer dress, snow still on the ground couldn't fight against, she changed the season and snow began to melt.

yeah, you need to commit to the movie from the start and just fall into it... if you do that, it's dreamlike and the confusion works in the film's favour... I read the book, it's the same feeling.

I really like that scene too

Superior effort by Scorsese. It posed an interesting argument about how once DiCaprio's character got on the wrong side of the powers at the island, he was fucked permanently.

One of my favourite films ...You just have to go back and watch it again !
