فيلم "ياسمينة" الذي تم تصويره عام 1961 في منتصف الحرب الجزائرية، يحكي قصة فتاة جزائرية صغيرة مع دجاجتها وعائلتها قُتل والدها في قصف لجيش الاحتلال الاستعماري الفرنسي. وبعد رحلة طويلة، تتجه الأسرة نحو مخيمات اللاجئين على الحدود التونسية. تم إنتاج هذه الأفلام من قبل مصلحة السينما التابعة للحكومة المؤقتة للجمهورية الجزائرية (GPRA) في خضم حرب الاستقلال، وكان الهدف منها إعادة تعريف السكان والرأي العام الدولي بالانتهاكات التي ارتكبها الجيش الاستعماري الفرنسي: التعذيب. واعتقالات وإعدامات تعسفية، وتفجيرات بالنابالم، وحرائق في الدوارات، ومحو قرى بأكملها من الخريطة، وما إلى ذلك. والتي وصفتها وسائل إعلام فرنسية بحملة "التهدئة". يقوم الأخير بمراقبة أو إعادة توجيه أي صور يمكن أن تضر بالسرد الاستعماري.

"Yasmina" filmed in 1961 in the middle of the Algerian war tells the story of a little Algerian girl with her hen and her family whose father was killed in a bombing by the French colonial army of occupation. The family, after a long journey, heads towards the refugee camps on the Tunisian border. La familia, tras un largo viaje, se dirige hacia los campos de refugiados de la frontera con Túnez. Producidas por el Servicio de Cine del Gobierno Provisional de la República de Argelia (GPRA) en plena guerra de independencia, estas películas tenían como objetivo volver a informar a la población y a la opinión pública internacional sobre los abusos cometidos por el ejército colonial francés: la tortura , detenciones y ejecuciones arbitrarias, bombardeos con napalm, incendios en los aduars, pueblos enteros borrados del mapa, etc. que los medios franceses calificaron de campaña de "pacificación".
