Discuss Notes on a Scandal

Judi Dench is such a psycho-typical cat lady- in this film, just so gross and Kate Blanchett is clueless; I mean what does she think a 16 year old wants?! I loved the movie because I really did not feel sorry for Kate Blanchett's character; had she been played by a more sympathetic actress I probably would have felt bad for her or had they developed her character more or had she acted like a traumatised woman with deep issues with which she was grappling, but she deliberately cheats on her loving husband for no apparent reason other than selfish want, hence I think she gets precisely what she deserves served to her on a disgusting platter by Judi Dench's repulsive and pathetic lesbian character.

Judi Dench does such a convincing job of being a pathetic conniving loser. I actually thought it was funny when Blanchett's character finally realizes that this woman is deranged and unleashes her rage. It is pretty obvious from the beginning but Blanchett's character is so clueless. Also Blanchett looks a lot older than she is in this movie. I thought she was in her forties but she was in her thirties. I did not buy that the kid was attracted to her; there wasn't any chemistry. Blanchett just isn't attractive. I am sure Aussies will disagree as they Love their stars but Kate Blanchett is simply not attractive. I think a more sympathetic actress would have made us feel for her more.

I loved the suspense of this movie; I am going to watch it again tonight. What I do not get is the lack of awareness by Blanchett's character about what she was doing. It is obvious that it was sure to come out and her career would be over. It did not seem to register and she did not seem to be a traumatised character so I did not understand why she would take that risk lightly. That is a huge flaw in the script, direction and acting. Blanchett does not act as though she is struggling with mental or emotional issues and does not emote sufficiently for the audience to care about what happens to her; thus we are unaffected and simply intrigued by what transpires .

it's an excellent movie... i think the actors nailed it... Dench is perfect in playing that pathetic and creepy character... but also human, she's not a cartoon...

Blanchett is so good at portraying the complete lack of awarness that is key for her character... really elevates the movie, in my opinion

I HATE CRAZY CAT LADIES. Dogs are a much more intelligent animal-OBVI. You have good taste in films. I am going stir crazy here alone in my house. I swim and I cannot because the pool is closed. Can you recommend some other faves of yours? Thanks.:) BTW I just watched it again last night and Judi is even more repulsive a character than I remembered. OMG- the scene where she wants to touch her arm was so gross- I would have screamed and run.

In the film, Dench reminds me of this gross old lesbian professor I had who oddly hated the pretty girls well, now that I think of it she even hated my friend Julaine who was not attractive-this lesbian was in major denial too- she liked the guys but was totally butch and gross. I told her off at the end of the semester becasue basically she tried to scare us all. So when I went to collect my final term paper she said in a surly way "You have really bad timing." I said"I Have perfect timing, all my other professors love me You are just gross! YOU are the one who is completely out of touch; Get that through your thick skull, Psycho." And I slammed the door smiling in triumph becasue she had terrorized us all semester. Thank God I transferred to NYU the next year-this was at a college with a really low mentality level; any idiot could get in. I had been abroad and simply did not apply to the schools i wanted until that year so I basically took courses I wanted and applied to real schools. Anyway, From that point on I have basically expressed myself always:) It was a great opportunity. BUt she was so disgusting- as psycho as Judi Dench's character.

I don't like actors; I love writers as they have consciences and it is the story that touches me. I think the writers of the screenplay are phenomenal. There ARE SO MANY psycho cat ladies like her unfortunately and they are called narcissists as they manipulate and have absolutely no capacity for love. They run the other way when they see me because I have zero tolerance for them. I I laugh at the narcs I encounter now; they are pathetic and disgusting. I loved when Blanchett let loose on that psycho destroying her journal and calling her a freak. Please let me know of some other films you enjoy, i love thrillers and dramas-I do not know if you like foreign films but i have a boatload to share, check out THE DANISH VERSION NOT THE AMERICAN version of After the Wedding it is phenomenal.

I do not enjoy animals who can only sh!t sleep and eat and offer nothing to me. I love dogs as they are angels of the Earth and have been proven to be smarter than cats scientifically as if they had to do a study of the obvious-sometimes scientists are dense. NO WAY will I be watching anything to do with the stinky crazy cat ladies. But I loved that this ugly Biatch got what she deserved in this film in the end. LOL! LMAO! And I am glad her mangy cat died HAHA! There are very few animals I dislike: mosquitos, ticks-almost as repulsive as cats-and felines of all kinds becasue they are PREDATORS who carry toxiplasmosis. THEY CANNOT LOVE. THEY DO NOT LOVE YOU. Now that we have established that. It is great to meet you. If you have any great dog films like Dean SPanley(so fnny Sam Neill really embodies the beloved canine- be sure to pass them my way. Love all other animals and would never hurt a cat just do not want the ugly, odious creatures anywhere Near me. They found most cat lovers have toxiplasmosis a bacteria in the brain that makes them like the odious creatures. Judi Dench makes a GREAT CRAZY CAT LADY. I am going to pet my beautiful dog now. I am SO luckyyyyyyyyy!!!
