凭借《十字车站》拿下柏林银熊编剧奖的德国导演迪特里希·布鲁格曼的前作，依旧是和妹妹安娜·布鲁格曼合作编剧，且后者也担任演员一职。影片作为幽默的群像影片，以合租公寓的搬家为起点，关注的是一整年之内柏林的一群青年人的生活，重点关注他们彼此间的关系变化。

Eleven moving dates, eight friends: Philipp, Wiebke, Jessica, Maria, Swantje, Michael, Thomas, Dina – all in their twenties and mutually lonesome. And always searching: For a new city, a new job, an own apartment, a new, or even an old love. The search is never-ending, and so they repeatedly find themselves at a ritual gathering: someone moving. Boxes are shifted from one side of Berlin to the other, or the length and breadth of Germany, from one abode to the next as one life is exchanged for another. In 3 ZIMMER/KÜCHE/BAD, director Dietrich Brüggemann portrays existences in which relationships, social networks and backdrops are in a constant state of flux; where best friends are the only, and therefore the most valuable constant. Humorous sketches of the self-conception of a generation for whom moving has become the symbol of a life on the go.

A Berlin, Philippe aimerait faire des études de photo. Wiebke recherche un compagnon. Jessica souhaiterait que tout change et Maria que rien ne bouge. Swantje cherche la vérité, Michael ne sait pas ce qu'il veut et Thomas n'a envie de rien. Quand il faut de surcroît changer de lieu de vie, tout se complique. Des couples volent en éclats, d'autres se forment. Et chacun s'aperçoit que déplacer des meubles et des cartons n'est jamais tout à fait anodin. A chaque déménagement, chacun doit reprendre ses marques, s'adapter à une nouvelle vie. C'est l'occasion de comprendre qui sont ceux qui comptent vraiment dans l'entourage...

Acht Freunde helfen sich gegenseitig immer wieder beim Umziehen. Ein ganzes Jahr lang Umzüge, quer durch Berlin, quer durch Deutschland, von Wohnung zu Wohnung, von WG zu WG. Dabei sind diese Treffen mehr als nur das Schleppen von Möbeln und Bücherkisten. Für die Endzwanziger bedeuten diese Umzüge Meilensteine in ihren Leben. Der Wechsel der Wohnung ist auch ein Wechsel von Beziehungen. Manche gehen kaputt, andere wachsen, eine Liebe blüht auf und eine andere verwelkt. Altes bleibt zurück und das Neue ist zunächst nicht mehr als ein vages Versprechen. Am Ende aber bleiben da Freunde – die, die den Sinn des Lebens vielleicht auch nicht ergründen können, aber helfen, die Kartons zu tragen.
