Evan Rachel Wood's character was a psychopath. She manipulated her friends to accuse their teacher of sexual assault, and then purposefully had their lie exposed during the trial in order to A) get back at her friend who she feels stole her boyfriend, and B) to help launch her career as an actress.
Which is wild because ERW accused her former bf Marilyn Manson of abuse and apparently contacted his past girlfriends to rope them in and used scripts so that their stories matched.
But this movie was basically a mashup of Clueless and Wild Things.
