Discuss All Is Lost

but ultimately a damp squib. I don't mind the lack of dialogue (monologue?), or making the main character understated and emotionally restrained. But I found myself guessing what Redford's character was even thinking for parts of the film. Admittedly I have no real nautical knowledge. However:

  • A storm is rapidly approaching? Perfect time for a shave.
  • Sit down and brace yourself against furniture in choppy water? Then nothing happens, so uh, stand up again I guess.

Add some bizarre continuity errors with a lack of flooding, and one of those infuriatingly obscure incononclusive / melodramatic endings directors are so keen on and this one didn't reel me in. Another 'star vehicle' that left me cold. Give me 'Hell in the Pacific' any day for a survival tale.
