Debatir O Cabaleiro Escuro

These are movies that I believe are better then the original. For some of you several of the picks on my list will border on blasphemy. I have also included movies from franchises that have more then two films. Check the list out HERE and do not hesitate to add your favorite or disagree with mine; I've got thick skin wink

NO,NO NOPE..NO....I DONT EVEN HAVE TO ADRESS THE ROCKY 2 BETTER THAN ROCKY THING....THE COLOR OF MONEY...F@#KING FOR REAL?..LIST OVER MAN!YOURE DOG MEAT MAN!DEAD MAN!GAME OVER MAN!THE COLOR OF MONEY IS A DECENT FILM ANCHORED BY A STRONG NEWMAN PERFORMANCE AND DRAGGED DOWN BY A HYPER OUT OF PLACE TOM CRUISE AND A SCRIPT THAT DOESNT KNOW WHERE TO GO....THE HUSTLER IS A CINEMA CLASSIC.NO OFFENSE.

LOL, congratulations you found 2 of the 4 that I knew would cause problems. Thank goodness for subjectivity and I did love The Hustler. It was a tough call for me but I loved the old Newman performance over the young and Gleason made it really close.

I can't help it, it's a character flaw grin

WE'D BE COOL WATCHING MOVIES.I LIKE ALL THE FLICKS ON THE LIST...IM JUST ESPECIALLY PASSIONATE ABOUT ALL THINGS NEWMAN...COOL HAND LUKE AND THE HUSTLER ARE TOP OF THE CINEMA PYRAMID.

Love me some Cool Hand Luke. My favorite Newman movie is The Sting. I think that Absence of Malice is a real underrated movie of his as well.

HOMBRE IS A VERY UNDERRATED FLICK.

I would add X2: X-Men United as one in this category. Of your list, the only ones I disagree with are Alien and Spider-Man.

Now I love both Alien and Aliens. They are two different types of film though. I wouldn't necessarily say one is better than the other.

With Spider-Man 2, I am in the minority on this, but I just don't like part 2. I enjoyed the original (2002) more. I have tried rewatching the sequel time after time, but never do I enjoy 2 more than 1.

IM THE MINORITY.I THOUGH TOBEY SUCKED FROM MINUTE ONE TO END.THEN GARFIELD UPPED THE SUCKAGE GAME..TOM HOLLAND IS THE ONLY SPIDERMAN I HAVENT WANTED TO CASTRATE WITH A HOBOS TEETH.

OK after being thoroughly chastised by VHS-VANDEL (and I am surprised he was the only one), I went ahead and rewatched The Hustler (it had probably been 20 years). I have decided to graciously beg forgiveness of classic movie geeks everywhere and have removed The Color of Money and replaced it with Mad Max Fury Road. I will admit I'm not a huge fan of the Mad Max franchise and had only seen the original, but I did watch Fury Road basically because it had Charlize Theron in it (I know, I'm a dog). It had some really good action sequences in it and I certainly liked it better then the original.

Anyways, check out the list HERE and tell me where else I went wrong. Like I said in the OP there are a few that people should ferociously disagree with. Also let me know some that you liked that are not on the list.

I understand that it was most likely a self deprecating joke, but still I don't know why the implication has to be that you are a "dog" for watching a movie to see Charlize Theron. I don't want to get too serious, but this is just an annoyance I have with the current world.

It is okay for a male to be attracted to a female. No matter what a large vocal minority of society seems to dictate, this is still all right. It starting to feel like just being a guy is a sin nowadays.

No I agree with you and it was a joke. I will usually admit things like that when I know I am checking out a movie I wouldn't normally watch because of a handful of female leads that I am attracted to. However, I have discovered some good flicks that I wouldn't have ever watched had I not.

You should give Mad Max 2 a go. I was never a massive fan of the first one either but the second one is quite different and widely regarded as a superior sequel (as befitting your list). It's more like Fury Road than the first one.

I will, but that's not the one with Tina Turner is it? Because I remember seeing the trailer for that years ago and thought, "not a chance in H-E double hockey sticks.

That is cool, and I agree with that sentiment as well. I've watched a film just because it had Scarlett Johanssen in it, but it had the opposite effect, in that it was terrible. Haha.

Totally agree... Superman II Return of Pink Panther Mission Impossibles Spiderman 2 Christmas Vacation Bourne Supremacy Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (see Batman Begins though!) Mad Max Fury Road - Although Mad Max 2 is already better than the original. Empire Strikes Back The Dark Knight

Disagree... Bourne Ultimatum - I find this too samey to Supremacy. It has its moments, but I prefer Identity. Batman Begins - I couldn't count this as a sequel to Batman and Robin. Its the start of a totally different trilogy. In that vein I think Dawn of the Planet of the Apes belongs on the list because it is better than Rise, not because its better than the 60s original. Return of the Jedi - I honestly think this is the first bad Star Wars film. T2/Aliens - I prefer The Terminator, and I think Aliens is just on a par with Alien.

No, that's the 3rd one and it's not supposed to be very good. I have seen it but I was very young and can't really remember it.

It seems sequels being better than the originals is quite a recent phenomenon. It used to be extremely rare but it's not unusual for a sequel these days to expand on the original and use the opportunity to deepen it's world and characters rather than just deliver the same formula but dialing everything up to 11.

I'm glad you've got The Bourne Supremacy in there. I was always surprised with what Paul Greengrass did with that.

I'd also add Blade 2 and John Wick 2. Both examples of films that deepened their worlds from the standard but fun action thrills of their predecessors.
