本片为1967年的侠情电影，由邵逸夫亲自监製，高立导演。故事描述，宋代时候，西凉蛮兵入侵中原，武林正宗日月会总舵主洪钟（杨志卿），被与敌酋勾结的镇西府大将军吕强（顾文宗）所杀，各路英雄联袂同赴昆城龙灵寺，迎接新舵主沉秉义（张翼）密谋抗敌大计。期间，侠士之后葛黛云（焦姣）及维族族长之女丝丝（虞慧）、濛濛（舒佩佩），三女同时倾慕沉。惟沉因国事为重，无心谈及儿女私情，一一好言婉拒，率众英雄与敌展开连场大血战……
