Discuss Body Melt

All I've read that's been written in recent years on this lesser-known Aussie film mentions the opposite of my subject header through one form or another, some reviews even referring to it as a loosely-threaded anthology film. Not my take. Probably has to do with age.

The '80s were all about excess and unadulterated consumerism—the "me, myself, and I" decade—and as certain consequences became clear, these excesses were re-shaped and morphed into self-guilt by marketers, transforming our obsessions and penchant for excess into a ludicrously lucrative market: The self-improvement and fitness market (now re-shaped into "Well Being" and "organic"). 1993 is at the tail-end of this obsession in N.A.. From costly cheats and quick fixes to "scientific" food and drinks and all sorts of exercise machines... This film is clearly a satire of this phase! I'm just surprised to see it depicted accurately in a film from Australia; guess it was an international thing.

It may appear disjointed at times, and it is, but that's the running theme and everything contributes to the plot through that rather than relying on just the character-linked scenarios, and is thus unified because of that, in my opinion, why I disagree with any of those reviews.
