Popeye drops a TV off at the orphanage; the program that comes on is a boxing match he's supposed to be in, so he dashes off. The fight is against the champ, who is huge. Popeye gets pummelled in the first round, but his fighting spirit materializes and advises him to outwit his opponent. In the second round, he does so. The champ then uses a light socket to "burn out" Popeye so he can't outthink him, and (as with the rest of this pun-filled match) "knocks him cold", turning him into a block of ice. The orphans feed Popeye his spinach right through the TV set, and he comes back to knock the champ through the screen.

Popeye dépose une télévision à l’orphelinat; le programme qui s’allume est un match de boxe dans lequel il est censé être, alors il se précipite. Le combat est contre le champion, qui est énorme. Popeye se fait défoncer au premier tour, mais son esprit combatif se matérialise et lui conseille de déjouer son adversaire. Au deuxième tour, il le fait. Le champion utilise alors une prise de lumière pour "brûler" Popeye afin qu’il ne puisse pas le dépasser, et (comme avec le reste de ce match rempli de jeux de mots) "le frappe froid", le transformant en un bloc de glace. Les orphelins nourrissent Popeye de ses épinards à travers le téléviseur, et il revient pour frapper le champion à travers l’écran.
