Discuss Prey for Rock & Roll

US DVDs of this movie appear to be just 92 minutes, while both imdb and wikipedia show a running time of 104 minutes and DVDs from Europe and other areas seem to be 104 minutes.

Anyone happen to know what the differences are?

The DVD for sale at Amazon lists it as 104 minutes. Where did you find it at 92 minutes?

I just suggested a correction there. The US version appears to be 92 minutes, and you can see listings for the DVD on ebay that have the same cover photo as the one on Amazon, and it shows 92 minutes right on the back of the case.

They apparently made a cut version for the US, and foreign editions are longer. So far I haven't found any information on what was cut for the US version. imdb usually has stuff like that, but maybe the US version is too new?

I recorded it a while back from cable, but I don't have easy access now to see how long that version was.

Maybe it's like the dvd version of The Harrad Experiment, which was edited to remove several nude scenes with Don Johnson.

But you can't be sure where the eBay version came from?

I have no idea who actually manufactured it - these days probably China - but it appears to be region 1. The others that show 104 minutes are region 2 or 4.

Did anyone ever get an answer to this? I just watched this movie tonight (and filled out the credits here) and the DVD I watched (not a US version) had a run time of 104 minutes. I also found this version on youtube. Very interested to know what a shorter version of the movie might have cut out.

Thank you for posting a direct experience like this. I see the YT version now, which has been available for less than a year. I will download that and eventually I can try a side-by-side comparison. I should still get a foreign DVD though, since the quality of downloading from YT isn't as good. Especially since what was uploaded is often not very good quality to start with.

In the past, some movies played a little faster in the US just because of 50hz vs 60hz power, but that shouldn't be an issue with digital media.

By the way, I just noticed that The Craft is currently "free with ads" on YT, I'd recommend seeing it if you haven't already.
