The story is one of an architect that has lost his inspiration and goes looking for those motivations that pushed him as a youngster to take up the profession. Inspiring him was the baroque movement and all of its artifices: the Guarini in Turin and the Borromini in Rome. The film’s central story ends up being the love story that develops between architecture, artistic inspiration and feelings.

À 50 ans, Alexandre a derrière lui une brillante carrière d’architecte. En proie à des doutes sur le sens de son travail et sur son mariage, il part en Italie accompagné de sa femme, avec le projet d’écrire un texte qu’il médite depuis longtemps sur l’architecte baroque Francesco Borromini. En arrivant à Stresa, sur les rives du Lac Majeur, ils font la rencontre de jeunes frère et sœur, qui donneront un tout autre tour à cette échappée italienne.

Alexandre Schmitdt, arquitecto francés poseedor de una brillante carrera, y su mujer, Aliénor, socióloga especializada en contextos sociales difíciles, es una pareja que comparte una inquietud profunda sobre sus respectivos oficios. Entre ellos se ha creado un silencio que puede acabar comprometiendo de forma irreversible su relación. Consciente de la necesidad de salir de esa situación, Alexandre decide retomar un proyecto importante para él pero abandonado hace ya demasiado tiempo: escribir un texto sobre el arquitecto barroco Francesco Borromini. Necesitada de tomar distancias con su propio trabajo, Aliénor decide acompañarlo, pero en Stresa sus destinos se separan momentáneamente para volver a reunirse, en una especie de renacimiento final absolutamente necesario.
