熙攘喧嚣的大都会东京，游魂漫无目的地行走在城市的每一个角落。身穿校服的女高中生树里（土屋太凤 饰）曾经将自己深锁屋中，拒不登校，后来则选择从公寓楼顶一跃而下，结束了自己十几年匆匆的人生。此去经年，她早已忘记当初自杀的理由，甚至有时忽略了已经死去的事实。细细回想生前事，曾有交到的倾心好友，也曾有运动出色的青梅竹马，而如今俱成过眼云烟。曾经讨厌嘈杂低端的她，现在反而喜欢身处其中。树里仿佛是城市中唯一一个亡灵，没有任何说话对象，除了那些怂恿失落的人自杀的虫男。 　　这是她的孤独地狱，没有止境的旅程

女高中生樹裡（土屋太鳳　飾）總是一個人在大街上遊蕩、坐在屋簷上眺望遠方，偶爾回到學校教室裡坐在座位上，但無論在哪裡，似乎都沒有人注意得到她的存在，總是這樣一個人孤獨地活著。但在屋簷上眺望時，有一個總是獨自帶著小男孩的母親（吉田羊　飾），似乎察覺得到她的存在，總是往她所在的高樓屋簷方向看過來，若有所思。

High school student Juri leaps to her death. Afterwards, Juri wanders to her house, school and street. She feels loneliness as nobody else is able to see her. She talks to those that she comes across including her mother and classmates, but nobody responds to her comments. Juri then sees a horrifying monster, which she never saw prior to her suicide. She calls the scary monster "Bug Man". When the mind of humans become weak, the Bug Man tempts those to commit suicide. One day, Juri walks along the street as usual. She then meets a girl that is able to see Juri. Juri names the girl Ringo-chan and plays at the park with her. Their happy moments does not last long. When they come back from the park, Juri sees Ringo-chan's mother with a grim face. The Bug Man is standing behind her mother.

Juri est une lycéenne qui s'est suicidée. Piégée sans corps physique dans le monde des vivants, elle erre dans la ville, entre sa maison et son école, essayant de contacter sa famille et ses amies. Mais aucun d'eux ne peut la voir ou l'entendre. Ils continuent de vivre normalement, ignorant son existence.

Un jour, Juri rencontre une petite fille prénommée Ringo qui la voit. Elles jouent ensemble dans le parc, mais l'amusement ne dure pas longtemps. Juri aperçoit un monstre, un homme insecte, qui, telle une faucheuse, se nourrit de la faiblesse des gens et les pousse à se suicider...

自殺をして、肉体を持たない存在となった女子高生の樹里。街を放浪し、母親や友人に話し掛けてみるも、誰も彼女の存在を認識できない。そんな中、樹里の前に不気味な生き物、“虫男”が現われる。虫男は心が疲れ切っている人間につきまとい、自殺をうながす怪物だった。そんなある日、樹里の姿が見える少女と出会う。

고등학생 주리가 투신사한다. 그 후, 쥬리는 그녀의 집, 학교, 거리를 배회한다. 그녀는 아무도 그녀를 볼 수 없기 때문에 외로움을 느낀다. 그녀는 그녀의 어머니와 반 친구들을 포함하여 그녀가 만나는 사람들에게 말을 하지만, 아무도 그녀의 말에 응답하지 않는다. 그러자 쥬리는 자살 전에는 본 적이 없는 무시무시한 괴물을 보게 된다. 그녀는 이 무서운 괴물을 "버그맨"이라고 부릅니다. 인간의 마음이 약해지면 버그맨은 사람들을 자살로 유혹한다. 어느 날, 쥬리는 여느 때처럼 길을 걷는다. 그리고 그녀는 주리를 볼 수 있는 소녀를 만난다. 주리는 소녀의 이름을 링고찬이라고 짓고 그녀와 공원에서 논다. 그들의 행복한 순간은 오래가지 않는다.

공원에서 돌아온 주리는 링고찬의 어머니가 험상궂은 얼굴을 하고 있는 것을 본다. 버그맨은 그녀의 엄마 뒤에 서있다.
