Wendell Scott's story from bootleg liquor runner to the early days of NASCAR is a tale worth reading about. The movie, on the other hand, is less compelling. Would it have been to much for the real Wendell Scott to at least get a cameo role? There are exterior shots of Wendell Scott's cars, but not of him. Oh well, Richard Pryor did look much like Wendell Scott, so maybe that's why Hollyweird passed on a walk-on role.
