So I finally saw it. I went in with pretty low expectations. I expected it to be pretty lame, I hated the CGI in the trailers, I didn't like the way the objects looked, all that. So, for what it's worth, I liked it more than I thought I would. I was like okay, okay, I'm getting into this. I was entertained enough. Some thoughts...
I think overall the story is more believable as a cartoon. Because in live action it just seemed a lot more bizarre...and the "love story" more awkward. However, maybe it's because I'm an adult now? I just feel like you accept outrageousness in a cartoon more but except something live action to be more....realistic. And to me it made things like the bestiality undertones stand out more, and I found her falling for him less believable. But again, maybe because I'm an adult now.
Be Our Guest was the most awkward scene to me, lol. Weird pauses, I didn't understand Lumiere jumping off the table and pulling off the cloth where Belle couldn't even see him...weird camera pans from behind his back....awkward Ms Potts staring up at the screen too long. But hey haha.
As predicted before watching it, I liked LeFou the best as far as characters. They gave him the most interesting arc in my opinion, however, he was in it less than I would have wanted? Also I personally was let down by how absolutely benign the infamous "gay moment" was at the end. It looked like he just accidentally got a male dance partner, not intentional or anything romantic. They showed him dancing with the woman 100x and then it switches to a guy for a split second. It almost came across more as a joke/gag than anything else. But I like the mini-crush undertones (crushing on Gaston obvs) he had throughout the movie.
Okay Gaston. I found his character "development" to be bizarre. Besides stepping on cabbages, in my opinion, there was nothing he did in the beginning that explained why Belle found him so repulsive. I mean, compared to the rest of the town, he did seem like the most eligible bachelor, or one of the top ones. And he didn't seem like a jerk yet. So why did she hate him? I guess he was too controlling and trying to force her to like him...and then yeah as it went on he did seem like he'd be an abusive controlling boyfriend and was like suddenly evil. It was just kind of weird. In the cartoon, he's an obvious vain extreme douche jock from the get-go. Here it was like, okay he seems cool enough, besides stepping on cabbages. Oh wait he's evil. Okay? I found the Gaston thing to be confusing. I don't blame Luke Evans.
I didn't hate the CGI as much as I did in the trailers. It didn't bother me at the end of the day, for the most part.
I liked that some of the other characters seemed to have a French accent besides Lumiere...unless I was imagining things. Being that they're in France and all.
The "joke..." when Gaston is talking about Belle, he's like "She has a certain..." and LeFou is like "Je ne sais quoi?" And Gaston is like "I don't know what that means, but ok." I was like LOL okay that was a really weird like meta- or just weird joke. I get that a typical Murican or something might not know what that means, so maybe they were going for him not being savvy....but being that they're French....using an Americanized-French phrase...and then him saying he doesn't get it...I was like what lol?! Also I was thinking they probably should have been reading Molière instead of Shakespeare but shh
Found the pacing kind of odd. They dragged some scenes on too long while rushed others. eh
Found the song the Beast sings by himself after she leaves to be corny and misplaced.
I did like the background info of how the servants let the Beast turn into a spoiled jerk (as a human) like his dad, so they were responsible for the curse and how he turned out, too.
I missed the Cogsworth of the original. He was my favorite character there. He was a little more...eh...in this one. Kind of boring. And the thing with his wife at the end was annoying.
Ummmmm I think that's all I have for the moment. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but found some of it odd or confusing. I'd watch it again.

Yaay...Lady Gigi said she is going to just "ignore" this film from now on!
That should mean she's gone forever, right?

I have come to the conclusion that LadyGigi is trolling. Or either mentally unsound.

Isn't that one in the same? Trolling and mentally unsound, that is.

Some trolls are quite witty and funny and doing it for their own amusement and actually entertaining. Might even be trying to be satire.
But mentally unsound is mentally unsound like getting excessively agitated towards people who disagree with her evaluation of the movie.

I thought it was awful. With each new promotional release my expectations plummeted lower and lower to the point where I was hoping I would be pleasantly surprised and thought they'd surely exceed my expectations. Unfortunately, it was about what I expected and boring to boot, which I wasn't expecting.

Well that's too bad! not because I have a vested interest in the movie, lol, but I feel bad that you were so disappointed. My expectations kept lowering too, but then I was pleasantly surprised in that I enjoyed it, even though it had some problems. Some of the scenes did drag, like when they went to visit her windmill in Paris

I can't say that I loved the live action more than the animated version (which is my all time Disney favorite), but I did love it and I do agree that it added a certain depth to some characters, namely the prince/beast, not only because we got a little more backstory but especially because there was a really emotional side to him (I enjoyed his tower song). I really don't get some of the hate here, particularly the supposedly gay scene or merely the fact that it is hinted that LeFou might be gay. Come on people, what's wrong with some of you? I take this as another plus on the live action: even LeFou has some character development: he is a person, not just a Gaston-adoring, red-nosed moron.

Sidenote: I love how people think in this film that LeFou was just purely in love with Gaston the entire time. No one caught that shady remark he made during "Belle", when replying to Gaston's "I wanna marry Belle because she's beautiful and that makes her the best and don't I deserve the best" speech he was like, "Oh but she's so ... well-read and you're so...athletically inclined," LOL. I could see he was loyal but I don't think he was his #1 stan. Another sidenote: I also find it interesting how some here wished for the Beast to be scarier. But this is Disney, folks. Appealing to kids above all other demographics is how they make their money. If they made the Beast our of something of a horror film, I don't think they would accomplish that. lol

I liked it. I've enjoyed all of these Disney remakes of old animated films so far. This one was about the same as Cinderella. I enjoyed the two alice movies and the jungle book a little more because they're fun. My only complaint with this film is the animation of the beast was a little dodgy.
