and still running... wow. I wouldn´t have guessed that. Even though I prefer the Original - the stunning success of this movie, gives me high hopes for more live action Musicals on the silver screen.
Musicals always feel like on the brink of extinction.
Hopefully Beauty and the Beast guides the way for more to come!

I'd prefer to see more musicals like La La Land to be honest... Original and made for adults... But if these Disney/fairytale musicals help the genre grow, it's probably encouraging...
Especially if it introduces a new generation of viewers internationally to the concept of a musical and they end up demanding it as they grow up...

I agree 100% on that. I´d prefer original Musicals too... but the genre needs a push. There are too many empty years between the good and not so good musical movies.

Domestically it could have been stronger, to be honest, but The Boss Baby is really chopping off it's legs.

There was very little doubt in my mind this would perform strongly. The original has too much of a following for it not to be seen. I am surprised that people have not come around to the fact that it's really just kinda average. I mean I guess a whole new generation of kids are going to see it over and over but if you grew up with the original, you know it's just a pale imitation.
I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. Review of the film here- https://youtu.be/AD4MjlFtI4k

It could have been stronger ;) Every Film Studio including Disney would have been happy with half of what they got.
