Not Angels But Angels ist ein Dokumentarfilm über junge männliche Prostituierte in Prag, dem neuen Eldorado für Sex-Touristen aus Ost und West. Die neue Freiheit und der ökonomische Druck lassen immer mehr "Engel" auf der Suche nach dem schnellen Geld auf den Markt drängen. Das Filmteam wurde während der Dreharbeiten zum Familienersatz, und die Offenheit und das Bedürfnis nach Aussprache stellt die beeindruckende Qualität des Films dar. Es wurde den Jungen freigestellt, an welchen Plätzen und zu welchen Fragen sie sich äußern wollen. Ein ehrliches Forum der Selbstdarstellung mit sehr direkten Aussagen über das schnelle und zerbrechliche Leben der "Engel" von Prag.

Rozhovory s chlapci a mladými muži, kteří se v Praze živí prostitucí. Mladíci jsou ve věku od 14 do 19 let. Pohybují se na Hlavním nádraží a v klubech. Většina jejich klientů jsou zahraniční turisté, mnozí z nich jsou Němci. Mladíci hovoří o tom, proč se živí prostitucí, o svém prvním "kšeftu", cenách, nebezpečí, o tom, co vědí o AIDS, o svých obavách (nemoc a samota) a o tom, jak si představují svou budoucnost. Název filmu, jeho liturgická hudba, z velké části elegická a záběry na sochy andělů ve městě podtrhují zranitelnost a bezelstnost mladých chlapců.

Interviews with a procurer and with nineteen boys and young men who are prostitutes in Prague. The youths range in age from 14 to 19. They hustle at the central train station and at clubs. Most of their clients are foreign tourists, many are German. The youths talk about why they hustle, their first trick, prices, dangers, what they know about AIDS, their fears (disease and loneliness), and how they imagine their futures. The film's title, its liturgical score, much of it elegiac, and shots of the city's statues of angels underline the vulnerability and callow lack of sophistication of the young men.
