so we see Saroo taken in by a lady and her husband after he rides the train for a bit. Then Saroo sees the lady put on make up and he takes off running? Was this some sort of sex slavery ring these people were into and Saroo figured it out, which is why he took off so suddenly again before landing in that orphanage? Again, I had no subtitles to see what the conversation was about

Yes, that scene was very creepy. Like even if you don't understand 100% what their motives are (they did not specify), you can just feel that something is not right and so glad he escaped!

From what I remember I think they talked about how Saroo is perfect and what they were looking for.

Even with subtitles, it wasn't specified. It was implied though. Like lmao7 said, they were saying that Saroo was what they're looking for.

It was sooo creepy, the was the man had Saroo come closer to him and caress him. Glad he was smart enough to run when he did.

Also, she kept encouraging him to drink the soda (the 2nd time she gave him one) and that made me think it was drugged.

this. they obviously wanted to use him for something messed up, good thing he sprinted the hell out of there.

Man-I cried my eyes out. :'(

Yes, it was a very creepy and sinister segment. I had the thought that the lady worked for a sex trafficker finding kids to sell. It was especially disturbing that the man came in and told him to lie back down on the bed....I thought something bad was gonna happen right then and there. Thank God he ran away. He knew in his gut something was wrong.

That segment of the movie felt a bit contrived. Is this a real event from the book?
