Nacházíme se na slunných plážích v Los Angeles, které se staly velmi nebezpečným a smrtícím místem, místem hrůzy. Lidé se zde totiž ztrácejí, cosi záhadného je vtahuje pod písek. Dokáže někdo této záhadě přijít na kloub, aby byly pláže opět bezpečné?

Something or someone is attacking people one by one on the beach. Some of them are mutilated, but most of them are sucked into the sand, disappearing without a trace. What is the creature responsible? Where does it live, and where did it come from? And is there any chance of it reproducing? Meanwhile, David Huffman and Mariana Hill are once-almost-married old friends, reunited over the death of her mother on the beach, and searching for clues in the abandoned buildings where they used to play when they were young.

Une petite plage d’une tranquille ville côtière américaine est le théâtre d’évènements étranges. Des disparitions et attaques qui semblent venir de sous le sable où quelque-chose rode. La police et un garde-côte enquêtent pour trouver une explication et faire cesser le carnage…

Ein heißer Sommertag im kalifornischen Santa Monica. Der Strand ist voller Menschen. Da verschwindet ein Junge. Die Mutter ist entsetzt. Als kurz darauf auch noch eine Frau spurlos im Sand verschwindet, ist die Panik perfekt. Der Strand wird geschlossen. Ein geheimnisvolles Monster zieht seine Opfer erbarmungslos in den Sand. Zurück bleibt nur ein Loch, in dem es geheimnisvoll pulsiert. Die Polizei beginnt, den Strand systematisch abzusuchen, um das Monster zu fassen. Zunächst mit Erfolg, wie man glaubt. Aber das Schreckliche passiert immer wieder und der Strand pulsiert jetzt an vielen Stellen.
