張文靜因工作過度緊張及擔憂其男友蘇文輝執行警務時遇上危險，需接受心理治療，並決定搬往郊外居住。靜搬家途中，珠寶劫匪阿表為逃避警方追捕，攜同賊贓匿於靜的新居中。士多老板達叔因兒子太叔公在靜家拾獲鑽石，千方百計要把兒子上契給靜，以便尋得其他鑽石。與此同時，亞表、太叔公及靜因互相幫忙成為好友。阿表的同伴欲取回贓物，脅持太叔公作人質，靜為救契仔，使出渾身解數。

Ontwikkelaar mevrouw Cheung verlangt naar een rustiger leven in Hong Kong en verhuist naar het platteland, waar ze onderweg verwikkeld raakt in een confrontatie tussen een bende juwelendieven en twee politieagenten. Terwijl mevrouw Cheung de beproeving overleeft, sluipt de gewonde chauffeur van de dieven in Cheungs verhuiswagen en vlucht naar het platteland, naar Cheungs nieuwe huis. Terwijl Cheung zich in haar nieuwe omgeving vestigt, raakt ze bevriend met Pak-Lam , een bekwaam en nieuwsgierig jongetje die in het dorp woont. Terwijl Pak-Lam Cheung helpt bij het onderhoud van haar huis, ontmoet hij de gewonde dief. Na een kort gesprek realiseert Pak-Lam zich dat de dief een onschuldige en niet-agressieve houding heeft en besluit hem onderdak te bieden in zijn geheime geïmproviseerde schuilplaats, niet wetende dat zijn nieuwe vriend een zak met gestolen juwelen in zijn bezit heeft, waarin zowel de politie en de gangsters zoeken.

Developer Ms. Cheung (Carol 'Do Do' Cheng) yearns for a quieter life in Hong Kong and moves to the countryside, getting herself caught in a showdown between a gang of jewel thieves and two police officers along the way. While Ms. Cheung survives the ordeal, the thieves' injured getaway driver (Siu-Chun To) sneaks into Cheung's moving van and escapes to the countryside, into Cheung's new home. As Cheung settles down into her new environment, she befriends Pak-Lam (Pak Lam Cheng), a skillful and inquisitive little boy who lives in the village. While Pak-Lam helps Cheung tend to her house, he encounters the injured thief. After a brief exchange, Pak-Lam realizes the thief has a harmless and non-aggressive attitude and decides to shelter him in his secret makeshift hideout, not knowing his new friend has in his possession a bag of stolen jewels, in which both the police and the gangsters are searching for.
