From the outset it is clear that this isn't a murder mystery show because the killer introduces himself directly to the audience and announces that he is, in fact, the murderer. He (Steve Winwood, I think) plays a pretentious, egotistic, actor. Jeff Garlin is an overweight detective, apparently the only detective in his squad with any sense, apart from his partner, a lady who is usually more concerned with getting laid than with solving the case. I loved this movie. I hope there is a spinoff series. The film is set in L.A. and features a load of quirky characters. If you liked Curb Your Enthusiasm you may like this as well. If you didn't like Curb you might not like this, but give it a shot. I think this is more tuned to the mainstream than Curb was.
