Discuss Wise Blood

I don't know if it's just me, but I had a difficult time swallowing the music in this film. Not that I hate the type of music selected (bluegrass(?)), but it seemed to deflate whatever mood the movie aimed for. It was a disappointment for me, largely due to the great performances by the cast - the music really didn't help me get into their plights. Luckily, I had already read O'Connor's novel prior to watching the film.

Did anyone else have this issue?

I did not find the music to be intrusive.

I seem to recall enjoying the film, right down to the music, which stood out for me.

The film has a non naturalistic style, even its period setting is questionable.

So the music rather suits the style of the film.

I guess it's just me then haha

I've only seen it once, so maybe it's just a soundtrack I need to get used to. Otherwise, I really liked the adaptation, the performances, the location, etc. The music just jutted out to me. And maybe it fit stylistically. But I felt my enjoyment of the movie kinda wane during scene transitions. I'll have to watch it again.

Well, like I wrote, ha ha, the music did stand out for me. I do remember that. This film has kind of faded into the background in my mind since watching it. I should rewatch it too, before I can make any firm judgement about its music.
