Late at night, the psychologist Eliane Hess is called to the hospital to take care of Yves, an eight-year-old boy, who just has lost his parents and siblings in a car accident. Eliane is both shocked and curiously drawn to the traumatized boy. As time goes by, she loses the professional distance to the patient, and when Yves' relatives begin a heavy dispute about the boy's future, Eliane makes an unorthodox decision, that throws her life off track.

La psychologue Eliane Hess est appelée durant la nuit à l’hôpital pour s’occuper d’Yves, un garçon de huit ans qui vient de perdre ses parents et ses frères et soeurs dans un accident de voiture. Eliane est en même temps choquée et bizarrement attirée par le garçon traumatisé. Bientôt, elle perd sa distance professionnelle envers le garçon et quand la famille d’Yves se dispute violemment quand à son avenir, elle prend une décision pas très orthodoxe qui va bousculer sa vie.

Finsteres Glück, nach dem gleichnamigen Roman von Lukas Hartmann, erzählt eine zarte, höchst ungewöhnliche Geschichte über Zugehörigkeit, Geborgenheit und Liebe. Über die Frage nach Schuld und Unschuld. Und über den Mut, sich schonungslos dem eigenen Schicksal zu stellen.
