L'any 1957 la guerra freda s'expandeix a l'espai. La Unió Soviètica envia l'Sputnik com el primer objecte artificial a l'òrbita terrestre. 3 anys més tard Yuri Gagarin surt a l'espai com el primer ésser humà. L'anomenada "carrera espacial" sembla decidir-se. Però el 1961 el president Kennedy va prometre enviar astronautes americans a la Lluna. Va néixer el Projecte Apollo. Es va construir una nau espacial prou potent com per escapar de la gravitació terrestre, aterrar a la Lluna i portar la tripulació de forma segura a la Terra. El dissenyador d'animacions Christian Stangl, va treballar amb el seu germà i compositor Wolfgang Stangl durant 18 mesos en aquest curtmetratge. La base van ser milers de fotografies originals de la NASA, preses pels astronautes durant les missions Apollo, que es van publicar el setembre del 2015. És un collage animat que utilitza diferents tècniques per a donar vida als fotogrames.

In the year 1957 the cold war expands to space. The Soviet-Union sends Sputnik as the first manmade object into earth-orbit.

3 years later Yuri Gagarin enters space as the first man in space. The so called "Space Race" seems to be decided.

But in 1961 President Kennedy promised to send American Astronauts to the Moon.

The Apollo Project was born. A space ship had to be built that is strong enough to escape earth's gravitation, land on the moon and bring the crew safely back to earth. Motion Designer Christian worked with his brother and Composer Wolfgang for 18 months on this shortfilm.

The foundation were thousands original NASA photographies, taken from the Astronauts during the Apollo Missions, which were released in September 2015. It is an animated collage using different techniques to bring the stills to life.
