It is interesting that the South Korean boy who 'tags along with Gene Evans' sergeant in Sam Fuller's tough and very enjoyable movie is named Short Round. The name was, of course, used three decades later for Indiana Jones' irritating kid sidekick and yes, it seems that Spielberg and co chose the name as an homage to this character.

The 'original' Short Round is a more charismatic character by far!
