Jeho bývalí spolubojovníci se poté obrátí proti němu a tato zrada natolik otřese jeho smyslem pro čest, že se rozhodne žít v divočině jako zvíře. Tam se přidá k nesourodé skupině, která ilegálně těží šógunovo zlato, a s pomocí dalšího šermíře získá šanci nejen přežít, ale i získat zpět své jméno a čest.
