Kemal a simple teacher arrives in a remote village to start a new school and teach the young ones, when he gets there he faces a strong opposition to his idea by the village master. Kemal with the help of few villagers tries to fight back the ignorance and oppression to give a hope for the poor people of the village.

Atatürk ilkelerine bağlı, devrimci bir öğretmen olan Kemal (Cüneyt Arkın), Karalar köyüne görev yapmak üzere gelince, başta Şerif Hoca ve gerici takımı tedirgin olur. Çünkü Kemalin amacı köye okul yaptırıp, tüm çocukları okutmaktır. Ne var ki Kemal yolundan dönmez. Üzerine atılan bir iğfal iftirası nedeniyle taşlı sopalı bir saldıraya uğrar. Kemal, bu saldırıda hayatını yitirirken, eşkiya Duran Ali (Fikret Hakan), olayı yaratın suçluları öldürüp, intikamını alır.
