The film takes place in 1973 during the Yom Kippur War in which Egypt and Syria launched attacks in Sinai and the Golan Heights. The story is told from the perspective of Israeli soldiers. We are led by Weinraub and his friend Ruso on a day that begins with quiet city streets, but ends with death, destruction and devastation of both body and mind. Various scenes are awash in the surreal, as Weinraub's head hangs out over a rescue helicopter's open door, watching with tranquil desperation as the earth passes beneath, the overpowering whir of the blades creating a hypnotic state. It is not a traditional blood, guts and glory film. There are no men in battle, only the rescue crew trying to pick up the broken pieces.

Pendant la guerre du Kippour, en octobre 1973, Weinraub et son ami Rousso se précipitent sur le Golan a la recherche d'Egoz, l'unité spéciale dans laquelle ils ont fait leur service militaire. Ils ne la trouvent pas mais rencontrent Klauzner, un médecin qui cherche a rejoindre la base aérienne de Ramat David. Ils décident alors, de leur propre chef, d'intégrer une unité de secouristes de l'armée de l'air.

סיפורו האישי של הבמאי, סטודנט צעיר לארכיטקטורה, שבמהלך האנדרלמוסיה של תחילת המלחמה, מתקשה למצוא את יחידתו הצבאית "אגוז" ומחליט יחד עם חברו הטוב להצטרף לצוות חילוץ אוירי. הסרט מתאר את חווית המלחמה של צוות החילוץ הפועל בתנאים פיזיים בלתי נסבלים ותחת אש כבדה, את היחסים ביניהם את הקושי להשאיר מתים בשטח ואת ההתמודדות האישית והקבוצתית שלהם עם הפחד. עד היום בו נפגע ההליקופטר שלהם מטיל ומתרסק.

Ad Haifa è una tranquilla giornata di sole. È il 6 ottobre del 1973, festa dello Yom Kippur. All'improvviso il suono di una sirena squarcia il silenzio. È la guerra. Amos e Uzi, amici per la pelle, si trovano da un momento all'altro scaraventati in un inferno di sangue e di morte. Le forze armate siriane ed egiziane hanno dichiarato guerra ad Israele il giorno della festa. I due devono raggiungere in tutta fretta il Quartier generale dove, ma loro ancora non lo sanno, verranno assegnati ad un gruppo di soccorso.

6 октября 1973 года. Два молодых человека едут на войну ("война Судного Дня" - Израиль против Сирии и Египта). Один - патриот, хочет поучаствовать во "взрослом деле" и едет на войну с радостью, которая впоследствии исчезает. Другой - молодой человек с жилкой теоретика, начитавшийся Маркузе: по дороге на фронт в своём стареньком "Фиате" он рассуждает о том, как избавиться от ненужных стремлений и не покупать модных машин, навязываемых рекламой. Но, оказавшись пушечным мясом, молодые люди забывают и о патриотизме, и о рекламе, к которой лучше не прислушиваться.

6 de octubre de 1973, todo está en calma en Israel, es la fiesta de Yom Kippour (Día del Perdón)... cuando súbitamente estalla la guerra. Weinraub y su amigo Russo parten hacia el sur del Golán en busca de Egoz, la unidad especial donde hicieron el servicio militar. Terminan llegando a la base aérea de Ramat donde formarán parte de un equipo de rescate a bordo de un helicóptero.
