A massive hit.

If by "massive hit" you mean straight-to-DVD mumblecore, then you are correct.

I'm stoked about it but i realize it's a niche film.

I started this thread. Oh dear, I have seen the movie now. Great trailer I thought - but the old story, that equals a rubbish movie. And Ed Sheeran cannot act at all. He is painful to watch.

I was surprised that Ed had a bigger part and a lot of screen time too. I thought just for the scene in the trailer.

I saw the trailer and thought, "Looks like fun, I want to see this." of course, I came right to TMDb to get a feel for what people are saying... appears it did not meet expectations - shame.

It met my expectations, they just weren't very high. I'm not sure why anybody had huge hopes for this? It was always going to be a standard cheesy Curtis romcom.

I loved the original and figured that anyone who'd try to remake it would appreciate what made the original work so well. It's interesting how people in the movie business don't always "see" a movie, while they're making it, the way we end viewers do - inasmuch as they make movies, they are yet not automatically authorities on what makes a good movie.

It was really lovely. Ed should really get some more acting training or quit doing it. Bring on the Ginger Geezer made me chuckle thou :)
