Robert Ryan's performance as the sadistic Master at Arms Claggart in Billy Budd is one of the most chilling, hateful of movie villains. He is sensationally good - riveting to watch. The entire cast of this great film does sterling work, but Ryan's performance is one for the ages.

When Claggart goes below deck and challenges the crew to "frag" him reminded me of when Barnes did the same thing in Platoon.

Very good movie 8/10
